How to Use This Site

The Equality in Marriage Institute provides information to empower you at any stage of your marital partnership. You'll find practical tips, easy-to-use checklists, essential things to remember, special email notes and links to other resources arranged according to your life stage. In addition, we offer a special email reminder system to support you in transitions. In some cases, we invite you to share your success stories.

Here is how we can help:

Step 1: Click on your partnership stage - before marriage, during marriage, when divorcing, after divorce or in new relationships.

Step 2: If it's legal or financial information you're seeking, explore "Taking Care of Business." If you want to know more about emotional, physical, social and spiritual aspects, choose "Taking Care of Self." We have divided the information to make it easier to find what you need when you need it, but we urge you to make sure you take care of business AND yourself, two halves of the whole in achieving equality in your marriage or divorce.

Step 3: On some pages you will find the option of clicking a REMIND ME button. We know that when people are going through transitions, it is sometimes hard to take the next step, so we have built in this reminder function to help you help yourself stay on track. Like a tough, loving friend, we will send you an email nudge. The decision is yours.

Step 4: In other sections, we invite you to share information you find with special people in your life.

Step 5: If you choose to share your success stories with us, we will guard your privacy and will contact you before sharing your advice or experience. Not all stories will be included on the site. We reserve the right to edit the stories for format and space. In any case, we thank you for your contributions.
