Write to the editors

If an entry states something that the documents do not support, say which entry and which document. Corrections of that kind are the most useful post we get. If you hold or have photographed a relevant object — a chest, a marked register page, a jeweller’s order book — we would like to know where it is and who holds it.

We cannot answer questions about anyone’s own marriage, and we do not give guidance on legal or personal matters. Those messages go unanswered, which is not rudeness so much as the limit of what a publication is for.
